All Local, All The Time
Locavore is a general market and food hub that uplifts Hawai‘i’s food producers and craftspeople, and connects our community with an entirely local selection of goods, gifts, and groceries.
Our Hilo town storefront is open seven days a week, and our online shop extends our selection of artisanal creations to our network of neighbors across the Hawai‘i pae‘āina and continental U.S. (Yes, we ship!)

Sourcing & Selection
Since 2010 we have enjoyed working directly with hundreds of local families and farms to create an ever-expanding food hub for and from our community.
Our definition of “local” means that 100% of our products are grown or produced by Hawai‘i residents and use ingredients, materials, and inspiration from Hawai‘i.
As a result, our selection reflects (the knowledge, skills, and livelihoods of) over 200 families and individuals living right here in Hawai‘i. Every day we work directly with dozens of vendors to keep our shelves stocked with the best products we can find, from seasonal produce to artisanal crafts, sourcing organically whenever we can.

Produce
Our produce vendors operate on many scales, from commercial farms to small backyard growers. Tell us about where you are and what you have available, and we’ll follow up with further questions.
Artisanal Foods
We’re looking for unique products whose primary ingredients are locally derived. For example, if you’re selling a chocolate product, we would expect the cacao to be locally grown, but not necessarily the sugar.
If you’re on-island, feel free to drop by samples at any time! We appreciate trying new products so we can talk about them authentically with customers.
Household, Body, & Crafts
In addition to uplifting local farms and food producers, we value opportunities to promote products that incorporate Hawai‘i materials, designs, and inspiration. We carry items created on every scale: handmade one-of-a-kind in single batches, produced in workshops and studios, and everywhere in between.”
